You, Social Psychology, and the World Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
You, Social Psychology, and the World - Essay Example They first had their hypothesis from a distinct field in which they could look at the underlying substance and create correlation between that one and the real world. One gets to understand that during this period, the rate at which they could still have experimental research was very minimal as not many people liked the idea of being the lab rats. They therefore had to correlate analysed data and look for the missing links to create reasonable hypothesis. They would develop qualitative survey items and pilot them on study participants to test the reliability and validity of the items. They also used questionnaires or mental tests as they referred to them. Researchers in this era wanted to understand more on the basis of coming up with clear objectives on understanding how to deal with the cognitive mind. They also sought to study the human performance and basic cognitive skills and its relationship to the theoretical analyses with the realistic world. The researchers in this period mainly aimed at promoting communication of applied research to memory within and between the applied and basic communities. Most of the participants at first were males but this disparity started closing up when the participation of women increased. Clearly, from a number of issues the current social situation in relation to the past researches helps determine how strong or weak an issue is and helps the researchers to resolve fully different issues through future research to yield maximum amount of new information. The general participation of the researchers was done with the exclusive need to organize a research literature by highlighting temporally unf olding developments in the field of interest. In the ââ¬Å"Psycho Bullâ⬠published in 1970 by Charles Murphy, he looks at the evaluative and integral research reviews and interpretations of issues in the scientific research of psychology. It primary reports on the empirical studies as there is a need to

Report Project On Obesity Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Report Project On Obesity - Essay Example for differences in height and weight, it does not distinguish between mass due to say accumulated body fat and mass due to having more muscles, neither does it account for the distribution of body fat in any way. These aspects play a critical role in determining the health risk an individual faces. For children, BMI needs to be adjusted for age and gender since there is a different growth pattern amongst boys and girls of different age. This therefore implies that it wouldnââ¬â¢t be possible to have a single universal classification of obesity in children (The NHS Information Centre, Lifestyles Statistics., 2012). Morbidly obese: 40 and over: Morbidly obese adults have a very high health risk. Additionally, they have lots of health complications such as hypertension and diabetes that can be directly attributed to the increased weight. Due to the excess weight, the patients also find it mobility a more difficult task. Using the Finished Admission Episode (FAE), which is the first period of inpatient care under one consultant within one healthcare provider, a graph of obesity against time between the year 2000 and 2011 grouped by gender is shown in figure 1 below. One of the potential causes of obesity is lack of physical activity. As such, the level of physical activity of a respondent may influence their potential for becoming obese. Data on levels of physical activities of adults is available for the years 1997, 1998, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2008 from the HSE 2010 trends table. An attempt at establishing whether there is a connection between obesity and physical activity is achieved through literature review. In particular, a check at the sections on obesity and physical activity in adults (page 18) and similarly for children (page 24) in the report ââ¬Å"Statistics on obesity, physical activity and diet: England 2012â⬠(2012) reveals that there is an apparent connection between obesity and physical activity. There is potential for obesity to have long run harmful

Strategy Implementation Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words - 1
Strategy Implementation - Essay Example Technology and incentives are not aligned because technology deals with production issues, while incentives deal with human resources. Companies can offer reward for good work acts, while enforcing punishment to implement disciplinary action. Incentives can be offered as a way to motivate employees. Monetary incentives motivate employees a lot due to the fact that compensation is the number one motivator of employees. There a different types of control mechanism in organizations. Five types of controls are bureaucratic control, output control, operational control, market control, and culture control. Bureaucratic control is the use of rules, policies, hierarchy of authority, reward systems and other mechanism that influence the behavior of the employees (Barnat). Output control deals with measures of count. For example the number of units produced during a day is an output control. Market control is used to compare companies. An example of a market control is the prices of stocks in the stock market. Operational control is used to measure efficiency. Culture control deals with the organizational culture of the firm. Culture control can have both positive and negative consequences. Control is a much different concept than technology or incentives. Summary - Essay Example In its most basic sense, the petrophysical model took into account nearly all the measurements as well as readings which were extracted from down hole using logging tools and hence the pertinent interpretations were derived as a result of the same. His assertion was that logging data and then finding out the readings are in essence elements that were all computerized and thus he was optimistic that the industry shall cease to make use of the old logs which used to be written on papers and later on saved within different packs of paper, all of which were cylindrical in shape and form. What this model did was to include different kinds of logs as it made use of a wire line data within its entirety. Further, the model focused on the basis of finding out how and where to complete the well as well as identify the net pay zone, and whether or not it cut off any data meanwhile. Mullen pinpointed after a thorough analysis a certain number of advantages related with this software which suggested that it was indeed pretty easy to learn and make use of, and it also cut back on the cycle time as nearly all logs were digital in nature. Moving on, this software played its due role at providing job treatment reports as well as other information which saved a lot of time as it employed the most advanced technological regimes. What is even better is that this software was considered very accurate as well as up to date with regards to its related understanding level. For instance, in GR logs it was able to distinguish each and every radioactive mineral in its own form so that a proper determination was sought as to whether shale or clay minerals and rocks could have existed, whilst understanding the same within the realms of the readings that were taken. Further it played its due role at differentiating the height of the reservoir, its permeability as well as the hydrocarbon pore volume. The orientation of naturally occurring fracture within the formation was also accounted

Collaborative Knowledge Management Tools Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
Collaborative Knowledge Management Tools - Essay Example For instance, a construction project management faced with an increasing case of problems and pressure such as costs, quantity, quality, labor among others, need proper project and design managers who would be analyzing large number of data when making crucial decision. It also focusses on integration, creation and dispersals of knowledge into the concerned society, where solution created is put forward by these collaborative techniques arising from proper management of technical knowhow or rather creativity (Dean, et al., 2010). Inter-connected problems which come from creative collaborative knowledge processes are captured and shared in such a way that they are managed sufficiently to achieve the desired aims and objectives. This means generally that whatever the objective of an operational firm, clinic or project, proper management of their used skills in a collaborative manner is no doubt necessary to ensure these objectives are achieved optimally (Antonino & Ronaldo, 2010). The management of a firm should embrace collaborative knowledge management tools in all levels of administration. This ensures that time and cost of decision making within the firm is saved and thus increases its profitability. It also enables easy flow of communication and skills among employees which results to improved productivity and work

Data Interpretation Practicum Statistics Project
Data Interpretation Practicum - Statistics Project Example A regression procedure would further help in predicting the injury rate based on working hours. However, discriminant analysis cannot be used. The average working hours in the three states is 2183.07 hour while the average injury rate in the three states is 2.4446. The true population mean for average working hours in the three states is bound between 45575.96 and 54345.61 while true injury rate mean for average working hours in the three states is bound between 10.26 and 20.09. From this output, the correlation coefficient between hours worked and injury rate is -0.636. This implies that as work hours increases, injury rate reduces (p-value ~ 0.000). The test is significant, hence we reject the null hypothesis and conclude that the two variables are correlated. This value is consistent with the observation from a scatterplot of the two variables shown above. A possible explanation for the observation made is that only a few injuries are normally witnessed, hence, increasing the hours worked does not necessarily lead to an increase in the number of injuries. Since injury rate is obtained by dividing the number of hours worked by the number of injuries, the values reduces as hours worked increases. The value of the correlation coefficient does not imply that increasing the number of working hours results into less

Ethics paper on Privacy and Confidentiality Term
Ethics on Privacy and Confidentiality - Term Paper Example These aspects range within intellectual, behavioral and physical factors in our lives (Chmara). Relative to privacy is confidentiality, which refers to treatment of data, or information that one has disclosed with an expectation that the information will not unveil to other people. Confidentiality is based on trust and anything under confidential terms should only remain within boundaries (Rothstein). At times, there are actions and measures directed at maintaining and protecting the confidential data. While privacy is all about people, a sense of control on other people access on us, protection rights and maintaining information within the power of the participant; confidentiality is about identifiable data, extensions on privacy, and agreements about maintenance along with access controls. From this perspective, confidentiality to some extend comprises of privacy (Rothstein). From my point of view, people posses a need for prima facie rights in privacy. In life, there exists a need for a right in revealing and concealing our relationships with the society and the outer world at large. In this perspective, at our work places, issues addressing health and productivity only concern the employed and the employer (Tomes). Again, there are situations that foster public interests, through agencies, institutions or the government, that demand on legitimate basis on the quest to know. In this case, it becomes very difficult to determine the needs to give priority. The dilemma is widely based on ethical conflicts. According to the health center laws, the difference in these two terms in shown in their description. Privacy is described as a control larger than timing, circumstances and extend that is associated with intellectual, behavioral and physical sharing of others. On the other hand, confidentiality entails information treatment as disclosed by individuals in accord to trust that it will never be disclosed (Behrnd-Klodt). Now, if the need to know from the employe rââ¬â¢s perspective does not tally with those of an employee, a paramount decision has to be made. Conflicts in terms of ethics rise because an employer is responsible for the protection of their consequent employees against health hazards at the work place. For this phenomenon to become a reality, calls employees to give in data on their health and working conditions to the employer must be enhanced. With reference to privacy and confidentiality, the much that employees are obligated in according their information to their employers, they might want to have some data with held, as a secret or on a confidential basis (Rothstein). Working in a health center might pose many challenges especially when faced with incredibly difficult situations. An individual wanting services from a health center may not want to get stigmatized based on the health issues she is attended. A good example is a pregnant woman entering a health center to get pregnancy counseling but does not want stigmati zation. Such stigmatizations are available in most health centers especially due to the signboards that give the health center clients directions to different offices (Chmara). Although most of the hospital managements do not appear to identify this as lack of privacy, in my opinion, it is. Specialists believe that closing of windows in time of physical examination and keeping results in the private area section entails privacy. However, this is
